Why did you join ROTC?To help offset the cost of attending college.
I joined ROTC because I wanted to serve the United States. I can still remember writing my college essays and being happy that I was seventeen years old and I knew what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted to serve the people of this country in whatever it takes to protect our way of life. I chose ROTC because I felt that I had what it took to be an officer and to be a leader in the Army. When I become an officer there will be a higher standard that I will be expected to meet. I have always had the competitive spirit to surpass expectations and therefore becoming an officer appeared to be the right fit for me.
I joined ROTC because it has given me the opportunity to become an Army officer. Also, I will have the opportunity not only to develop in one field, but I will have the chance to work with different branches and gain experience in all of them with the goal to become stronger in all aspects.
Why Should I Join Junior ROTC At McLane??
I enlisted in the Army National Guard more than five years ago with the intent of pursuing a career as an officer. The idea of simultaneously serving my country as well as attending college was one of the many things that appealed to me. What I didn't plan was how much I'd fall in love with the enlisted side of the house and within a few years found confidence, competence and pride in my MOS (military occupational skill) and position. I loved my unit, my company was my family and we looked out for each other (still do). With encouragement and a positive environment, I was inspired to strive up in ranks. I wanted to be a strong, highly-esteemed NCO (non-comissioned officer), just like my role models, and work with troops by hand. I'm an artist in the civilian side and that is what I have been pursuing academically. I was originally attending a state school, but last year I was accepted into the top-tier art school I attend now. It was an opportunity I couldn't turn down. It was actually to the advice of military family members and ROTC alumni that I decided to join. I guess I planned on eventually doing OCS, but since the occasion arose, I figured why not do it now. If I truly cared about troops, this is where I could really make a difference. There are many reasons why I initially joined the Army, but after serving a few years, I realize now that I needed to be part of something bigger than myself. Sometimes things run great, sometimes things suck (excuse my language) and a lot of times it's parallel--"Suck it up" we say. The Army definitely has a certain grit that I just can't get enough of. I'm a nerd and I love Army, I can't help it.
I joined ROTC because it is in my opinion, the best leadership course in the country. I want to continue the tradition of service in my family and there is no better way than to lead soldiers and defend our country. Regardless of how long I stay in the military, ROTC will be my foundation for anything I choose to take on. It promotes confidence, integrity, and camaraderie through leadership.
Why Join ROTC? | Career Planning After ROTC | Benefits
I broke it down like this: life can be a bitch and a lot of people get dealt bad hands; the world is far from perfect and there remain people that are impoverished, persecuted, suppressed, subjugated and straight-up beat down and bottled-up – and there is something we can do about it. So long as you can improve the disposition of another human being you will have a mission. The only question is to what extent you pursue it. One person might have only one shot – but that single shot has the potential to transform the entire world if it is chosen to be used as such. ROTC and the leadership training is provides is just one of the many tools that can be used to get things done – a means, not an end.

Jrotc Essay Examples - New York essay
I joined Army ROTC out of a desire to serve my country as an Army officer, which is a goal I have strove towards since I was young. I believed then and will always believe that soldiering represents the most honorable and valuable profession in this nation or any other, and I wanted to be a part of the same organization that my grandfather and other relatives served in during past wars. Beyond service to my country, I can honestly say that I enrolled in ROTC and set off to become an officer out of a yearning to do something worthwhile and even exceptional with my life; embarking on a career as an Army leader will, in my mind at least, provide me with that opportunity and with a set of achievements I can be proud of. In short, I can think of no other job I would rather do.
